The Fit Film Challenge - Phase 1

While we are cooped up inside, I've decided now is an excellent time to rewatch all 23 Marvel movies.

Rather than watch them in order of theatrical release, I've decided to watch them in the chronological order of events.

Since, on the surface, this seemed like the laziest possible use of my time, I've devised a way to make this an easy form of exercise for adults and kids alike.

I'm coming up with fitness challenges for each film. Each film will be assigned 2 exercises. That way it's easy to remember what you need to do when the time comes. Each exercise will be attached to a cue, some visual (like good guys punching bad guys) some audio (like dialogue or soundtrack). There will be a bonus for each film too that is usually a longer duration or higher rep cue. There will also be a "hero status" cue that should be pretty brutal.

Follow along and kill your boredom with fun movies and intermittent exercise!

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

  • Non-stop Squats during slow motion

  • 5 Push Ups whenever Cap says Buck, Bucky, or Barnes

  • BONUS 30 Squats and Push Ups when Cap says "I can do this all day."

CAPTAIN MARVEL

  • 15 Single Leg Glute Bridges when a classic 90's song comes on

  • 10 Single Arm Rows when any skrull shape shifts

  • BONUS Plank until the end of the scene when Captain Marvel uses her photon blasts

IRON MAN

  • 10 Push Ups when Tony scolds Rhodey or any robot (including Jarvis)

  • 20 Crunches anytime AC/DC plays

  • BONUS - Non-stop Side Lunges while Iron Man is flying

  • ​HERO STATUS - 30 of each exercise when Tony says "I am Iron Man"

IRON MAN 2

  • 5 Rows when Iron Man shoots things (repulsors, rockets, lasers, etc.)

  • 2 Glute Bridges whenever any character says "Tony" or "Stark"

  • BONUS - Hold a glute bridge while Tony does science stuff

  • HERO STATUS - 30 of everything when Iron Man suits up

THE INCREDIBLE HULK

  • Push Ups to failure when Puny Banner turns into the Hulk

  • 20 Lunges when Hulk smashes things

  • BONUS - When Banner is running from someone or something do bicycle crunches until he stops running

THOR

  • 10 Hip Thrusts when Thor says "hammer"

  • 12 Single Arm Rows when Odin says "my son(s)"

  • BONUS - 30 Single Leg Glute Bridges when Darcy mispronounces Mjolnir

  • HERO STATUS - 10 Crunches When Thor or Loki say "brother"

THE AVENGERS

  • Do 10 reps of an exercise when you hear the word "TESSERACT" 

  • What exercise depends on which character says it  

    • Cap - Hip Thrusts

    • Black Widow - Lunges

    • Banner/Hulk - Squat

    • Hawkeye - Crunches

    • Tony - Push Ups

    • Fury or Loki - Jumping Jacks
